May - "Fiesta Party"

To throw a fiesta birthday party think bright colors, pinatas, dancing, and chips and salsa. If you want to stick more strictly with a Mexican fiesta the colors should be red, white, and green. For the invitations, you can take a photo of the birthday child wearing a sombrero and write on the photo when and wear the party is, or send a maraca invitation. You can also write the invitation in spanish. Pick up jumping beans, maracas, and sombreros for party favors. You can make maracas together (look for shakers in the "music makers" category.) For food you can have an open burrito bar with beans, guacamole, tortillas, salsas, and spanish rice. A fruit tray would also be great. If you look in the Ethnic isle in your grocery store you may find fun drinks, cookies, and snacks from Mexico.

For decorations, either purchase or make a large cardboard cactus, chili pepper decorations, streamers, and the pinata. If you have young children they make pinatas that you pull apart rather than hitting it with a stick.
