Super Duper Egg Hunt
My in-laws have been doing the super duper egg hunt for the past few years, and it's been a lot of fun. Throughout the year my mother-in-law picks up things on clearance, from dollar stores and other bargain places. On Easter she and my father-in-law put a slip of paper with a number written on it, 1 through the number of items they have purchased, each into a plastic Easter egg. They then hide the eggs around the yard. Then they have an egg hunt. Each hunter can only find a specific number of eggs so that everyone gets a fair share of the loot. The eggs numbered 1 through 3 are always hidden very well. The person with the number 1 in their egg gets to go to the pile of loot first, and take one item from the pile. The hunter with number 2 goes next, and so on. After your older children have found their eggs, you can encourage them to help the younger children find their eggs.
