Twenty Funny Ideas (and then some)
- Once your children are asleep on March 31, pick them up gently so as not to wake them and move them into a different bed in the house.
- Sew the fly of your husband's underwear closed.
- Sew all of your child's or husband's underwear together by the side seam with only 2 or 3 stitches and put them back in the drawer so that they look folded.
- Place a rubber band over the handle of the kitchen sink sprayer.
- Glue some change to the sidewalk.
- Put salt in the sugar bowl or sugar in the salt shaker.
- Using an ice cream scoop, place mashed potatoes into a sundae bowl and drizzle gravy over the mashed potatoes to look like an ice cream sundae.
- Place fake bugs in slippers, underwear drawers, or on a bath towel.
- Fill an often used cupboard with soft bouncy balls or balloons in different sizes.
- Cover a frequently used bar of soap with clear nail polish.
- Saran wrap on the toilet seat.
- Move everything around in the cupboards so when your children go to get a bowl for cereal they find the silverware instead.
- Move your children's clothes around so that their shirts are in their sock drawer and their socks are in their pants drawer.
- Carefuly put a small piece of saran wrap on a pair of glasses.
- Set the tv to come on at 2:00 AM with the volume all the way up. (If you have a programmable TV.)
- Purchase several cheap alarm clocks from thrift stores and set them to go off at the same time (or 20 minutes apart, depending on how much you value your sleep) and hide the clocks around the house.
- Freeze a bowl of your child's favorite cereal with milk the night before. In the morning put just enough cereal and milk in the frozen cereal bowl to cover the frozen cereal.
- Cut a long, skinny hole through part of an apple and insert a gummy worm into the hole. If you can stomach it, make a smaller hole and put in a grain of cooked rice to make a more realistic maggot.
- Prepare yellow jello in a drinking glass with a straw to look like lemonade. Watch your child try to drink that up.
- "Forget" to take the plastic wrapper off of the pre-sliced cheese single when making a sandwich for your child's lunch.
- Make meatloaf in 2 round cake pans and "frost" with mashed potatoes. Use ketchup to write April Fool's on the cake.
April Fool's Day can have lots of laughs. Just be careful to make the gags age-appropriate, and laugh with your kids (and be willing to be tricked yourself!)
