September Birthday Theme
September - "Pirate Party"
A pirate party can include a treasure chest cake, treasure map invitations, contest for who dressed most like a pirate, have everyone talk like a pirate, red and black color scheme, pirate chest pinata, gold chocolate coins tossed onto the cake table, pin the pirate flag onto the X on the treasure map, gift bags or miniature treasure chests with an eye patch, cold coins, jewels, bandanna, and a small stuffed parrot. Don't forget about the most important activity, the treasure hunt. Write a clue onto a paper, roll it up, cover it with flour "dust" and hand it to the birthday child to start the hunt. Each clue should send them to the next clue until it brings them to the loot. If you have very young children that can't read so well, use photo clues instead of written ones. Be sure to bury a treasure of gold coins, jewels, gummy fish, temporary tattoos, and candy necklaces for the children to find.
