Music Shaker
To make a shaker you will need either an empty film canister, empty plastic baby food container, or empty toilet paper roll. Fill any of these containers 1/4 of the way with dried legumes or grains (split peas, rice, etc.) Duct tape the "shaker" closed. If you are using a toilet paper tube, duct tape one end of the tube before filling so that it can hold the beans. Duct tape the other end so that no beans can fall out. To make the tube stronger, wrap the entire tube in duct tape. To add a decorative touch, roll the tube in fabric and use fabric glue to seal shut. Using ribbon, tie a bow on each side of the tube, gathering the fabric hanging off so that the shaker resembles a wrapped piece of candy. You can also use different shades of duct tape instead of fabric. You can tape ribbons cut into different lengths from different colors and sizes of ribbon onto the end of the "shaker" to make it more visually engaging when shaken.
