Crazy Corn Starch Goo
Corn starch has a bizarre consistency when mixed with water. Let go of it and it runs away as a fluid, but pick it up and play with it and it will be hard like a rock.
Children (and adults!) can have lots of fun playing with corn starch goo. Mix equal parts corn starch and water. You can add a couple of drops of food coloring to give it a little life.
It's a little messy, and it's fun to use with other objects. It's a good idea to cover the surface you are going to play on with something washable or disposable, and to set out bowls and cups to spill the goo into and between.
