Bubble Card

To make a bubble card you will need

• Drinking straws
• White construction paper or cardstock
• Liquid dishwashing soap
• Liquid paint (tempera works best, but you can try food coloring.)
• Cake or pie pan
• Newspaper or old sheet
• Markers or crayons (optional)

The newspaper is to cover your work surface to prevent messes. Mix together 1 cup of water, 3 tablespoons of paint (or a few drops of food coloring), and 1 tablespoon of soap in your pie pan. Place one end of the straw into the paint mixture and blow. Blow through the straw until there are bubbles almost flowing over the edge of the pan. Take a piece of white paper and fold it to form a card. Gently press the front of the card onto the bubbles to get them to pop unto the surface of the card. If you have more than one pan you can do several different colors. If the color is not dark enough, add more paint. Blow more bubbles when needed. If you want to jazz it up a bit, let the card dry, then draw pictures onto the card. The bubble marks can look like water bubbles for fish or clouds for birds or an airplane.
